Art for Social Change

Art of the Matter supports projects that give back: providing services to the underserved, promoting social justice, and working towards a more just world. Below are a few of our ongoing projects.

Mobile Hope collaboration

Art of the Matter regularly collaborates with Mobile Hope to support at-risk teens and underserved children in Northern Virginia. Mobile Hope empowers homeless and at-risk youth by providing emergency shelter for youth up to age 24 who are at-risk, and/or precariously housed, and empowers them to become self-sufficient. AOTM is collaborating with one of our sponsors, BERNINA, to provide sewing machines for Mobile Hope's "Graffiti and Silk" thrift store, where clients learn to repair and artistically enhance clothing for resale to support the mission.

UPCOMING: AOTM will be creating a mural project with Mobile Hope clients, in which they will create their own hope-inspired artwork. Stay tuned!

Benefit for Ukraine

03

We had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with the wonderful Ludvig Odman from Blacksmiths Without Borders, a group that is using artistry to support the people of Ukraine. These artists donate their talents in order to help Ukrainians repair vehicles and deliver supplies to the front lines. The sunflower sculptures are made of spent Ukrainian bullet casings that are repurposed into beautiful art.
